About Us

We are specialists in the environmentally sustainable production of premium quality advanced landscaping trees.

For over 33 years Speciality Trees has been a leader in the production and supply of advanced containerised landscape trees for local government, the landscaping industry and retailers.

At Speciality Trees, we grow a broad range of native, deciduous and evergreen trees in semi advanced to super advanced sizes up to five metres in height, including a range of specimen trees and shrub varieties suitable for screening.

Stock and Availability

All our trees are grown and supplied in containers of the size indicated under our Catalogue on this website. Tree heights do vary however and it is recommended that these be used as a guide only. For confirmation of heights, widths and calipers, please contact us directly. Variations in demand and supply may affect availability from time to time, but to avoid disappointment we encourage customers to place orders well in advance.

Contract Growing

For landscapers, contractors and developers this is the most reliable, time and cost effective way to purchase trees to your specification. We are experienced in this area and more than happy to assist with the co-ordination of all of your project tree requirements. A 25% deposit is required at the time of placing the order. A delivery date requires to be specified at this time. Holding fees are applicable on all material held 30 days beyond the agreed delivery date and will be charged based on a set fee per tree by size.

Site Supervision and Management

At an additional fee, Speciality Trees can provide site supervision and maintenance programs as part of an urban project. We also provide a planting service at an additional hourly change.

Delivery Service

Delivery charges are based on the delivery destination ex nursery and the number of trees being delivered. We are able to arrange regional and interstate deliveries so please dicuss this with us at the time of order.

Payment Terms

Payment is required on delivery. Established account customers are required to remain within agreed terms from the date of invoice. Payment by direct debit and credit card is available and can be arranged over the phone. Where trees are ordered for supply after a period of 30 days or more, or are subject to contract growing terms, a deposit of 25% is required. Additional holding charges may apply for additional extensions of time. Holding charges are calculated on the size and number of trees being held over longer than the agreed delivery date. All endeavours will be made to remind customers of orders due for delivery and/or pickup.

Guarantee

Speciality Trees guarantee that all tree stock supplied will be true to type and in a sound and healthy condition at the time of pick up or delivery. Plants found not to meet these criteria will be replaced, or at our discretion, a refund of the purchase price paid will be made. Any claims must be lodged with Speciality Trees within 3 days of receipt of stock. No liability is accepted in excess of the purchase price paid. Any damage to plants in transit must be drawn to the attention of the carrier. Guarantees in respect of continued growth and health of trees after delivery can be offered only where site supervision arrangements have been made with us.

Stock & Nursery Visits

Visits to our nursery is welcome between 8.00am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday and by appointment only on Saturday mornings, but we ask that customers ring the office before arriving to ensure staff members are available to assist with enquiries. Visits outside of normal office hours can be arranged by calling the office on telephone 03 9796 8308.

Hamish Mitchell is the owner and Managing Director of Speciality Trees. With a passion for trees in urban environments and a career that spans 25 years in amenity horticulture, plant management and development, production and plant marketing, he is a fantastic collaborative resource for landscapers, designers and developers alike in all areas of tree selection and consultation.




 
 
Ben Scoble is the Nursery Manager at Speciality Trees. With over 12 years horticultural experience in both retail and wholesale nursery environments including expertise in key areas of plant development, plant management and wholesale plant production, he is involved with all growing and selling facets of the Narre Warren East facility as well as our other growing sites in regional Victoria.



 
 
Gaby Mitchell is the joint owner and Administration Manager of Speciality Trees. With many years experience in a number of key business support areas, her role at Speciality Trees encompasses finance, administration and infrastructure development.






 
 
Lee-Ann Officer is Marketing Manager for Speciality Trees. With over 12 years experience in various roles within the horticultural industry including branding and plant promotion, her focus is on business processes and marketing communications.





 
 
A visit to Speciality Trees wlll ensure a meeting with Rebecca Albutt in Sales. With past experience in her own family retail garden business in Port Macquarie, supplemented with a degree in Commerce, she offers a intelligent and practical approach to the co-ordination all of your project orders large or small.



 
 
After completing his Advanced Diploma In Horticulture at the University of Melbourne’s Burnley Campus in 2002 and achieving Dux of his class, Adam went on to work with a high class landscaping outfit before starting his own garden maintenance and landscaping business. Eventually moving into brokerage, he has amassed 11 years of industry experience. As our field liason with landscapers, councils and designers, Adam more than qualified to co-ordinate and manage major development projects.





 
John Simpson is the Nursery Manager at our second growing site, Warren Park, where he is responsible for both propagation and production. Covering 14 years, his mix of wholesale nursery experience and hands-on, front-line landscaping knowledge both with his own business and as a sub-contractor, adds insight and credence to our philosophy for supplying great lines grown well.
