Important Information on Myrtle Rust

Speciality Trees is a national award-winning, EcoHort and NIASA accredited wholesale production nursery with a focus on sustainably produced premium tree material.

With the recent confirmation of the existence of Myrtle Rust in Victoria, our determination to monitor external environments, observe and detect material in and out of our nurseries is even more resolute.

In compliance with our reputation for high material standards, junior stock including propagated material is acquired within Victoria and from similarly reputable businesses, themselves supported by accreditation. All stock is fully inspected upon arrival by qualified horticulturists, all of whom have recently completed courses in detecting Myrtle Rust. We have seven members of staff across two sites trained to detect and act upon any incidence, and our ongoing strategy forward is to remain alert and responsive to this threat.

Under existing IPM requirements, stock is tightly observed and monitored. Speciality Trees staff inspect all Myrtaceae stock fortnightly and this is supported by inspection checks by the Department of Primary Industry every month.

What does this mean to you? It means we are approachable anytime to discuss this threat, the quality of our material and the processes that make us award-winning in our field. Our commitment to all our customers going forward is the adherence to strictly observed protocols and practices that keep our material disease free.
