Common Hornbeam
An attractive deciduous feature tree with a broad-domed crown and smooth pale grey bark. Its leaves are distinctively ribbed and serrated. Provides autumn interest in the garden as it changes from dark green to yellow. Yellow catkins are prominent in spring.
Uses
Great as a feature tree for autumn colour. When clipped it makes an attractive hedge.
Preferred Position & Soil
Prefers a humus rich moist well-drained soil in full sun or part shade.
