Get Ready for Spring/Summer Flowering

Winter is a great time to think about how you want your garden to look like in the height of spring and summer. These selections are proven winners for flowering in the warmer months.

Arbutus unedo

Irish Strawberry Tree

We believe this tree to be underutilised in the landscape particularly as a street tree where its 7m mature height makes it suitable for planting under power lines. It looks great in the home garden too particularly when in flower. Flowers are a mix of pink and cream and grow in bunches like miniature bells. Its dark green foliage have a decorative serrated edge making this an all-round beautiful tree. We have good numbers in 40cm/27L, 50cm/52L and 100L bags.

Magnolia grandiflora 'Teddy Bear' ™

Teddy Bear Magnolia (evergreen)

This is a beautiful evergreen Magnolia growing to 4m with rounded and cup shaped leaves that are held tightly on the tree. This makes the tree denser in appearance. The leaves are glossy with a soft furry underside. As expected with evergreen magnolias, it produces gloriously large white flowers. We have good numbers in 30cm. 40cm/27L, 50cm/52L and 100L bags.

Callistemon citrinus 'Kings Park Special'

This native species grows to about 4m high and 2m across so it is a highly versatile landscaping small tree. It forms beautiful flowers in spring and summer that look like crimson spikes. It grows into a neatly rounded form with narrow green leaves. We have material ready to plant now in 30cm and 40cm/27L containers.

Cape Chestnut

Despite its common name, Cape Chestnut is not closely related to chestnuts (Castanea) or horse chestnuts (Aesculus) but is a member of the citrus family.  It doesn't look like a citrus or produce fruit like citrus but does look spectacular when in flower. This is an attractive tree for parks, avenues and large gardens. We have only started growing this variety again so our size is limited to 30cm containers.

Grafted Flowering Gum

This is a stunning grafted flowering gum produces masses of flowers in summer. Its flower colour is a soft pink with a hint of apricot. Great bird attracting small grafted tree. It is slightly taller than others such as 'Baby Orange' and "Baby Scarlet'. We will have some material this season in 30cm and 40cm/27L only but you need to be quick.

Corymbia ficifolia 'Wildfire'

Growing approximately the same height as 'Summer Beauty' is 'Wildfire'. This is a compact growing flowering gum with a dense canopy and striking flowers. Like most of our supply of grafted flowering gums, you will need to be quick here too with only 30cm and 40cm/27L material available this season.

Jacaranda mimosifolia

Growing to 10m when fully mature, this fast growing tree is an elegant specimen with green soft foliage turning to yellow in winter before shedding. The flowers are purple, bell shaped and cover the canopy. It is an outstanding summertime feature tree due it's stunning purple flowers. We always field volumes of enquiries when it is in flower as they are easily spotted throughout the suburbs. Talk to us about stock in 50cm/52L ready for planting this season.

Lagerstroemia indica x fauriei 'Tuscarora'

This tree provides year-round interest with stunning reddish/orange in autumn and smooth bare limbs in winter. However, it is most striking in summer when covered in coral red crinkled flowers. There are quite a few colours to pick from in the series, all with incredible flowering power. 'Tuscarora' is available this season in 40cm/27L, 50cm/52L, 100L, 150L and 200L bags.

Lagerstroemia indica x fauriei 'Zuni'

The great thing about the Indian Summer ® range of Lagerstroemia is their compact height -  perfect for urban landscapes. All produce masses of flowers in summer . 'Zuni' is no exception with stunning purple flowers produced in summer. We have great stock in 40cm/27L, 50cm/52L and 100L bags but you will need to be quick.

Liriodendron tulipifera

This is a beautiful tree - great form, bold and attractive foliage and magnificent flowers. They're a striking yellowish-green in colour with flecks of orange. Big and solitary, they sit in the extreme-most upper branches. We have material available now in 40cm/27L and 50cm/52L containers and some larger specimens in 200L bags.

White Caviar Magnolia (evergreen)

This is a highly ornamental, medium-sized evergreen with a narrow form and dense habit. A perfect  tree for screening, hedging and espalier. It produces medium- sized, fragrant, creamy white flowers in spring and summer which also makes it a great stand-alone specimen in the garden. We have one batch of 50cm/52L stock which will fly out the door so make sure you call early to book this stock.

Melia azedarach

White Cedar, China Berry

This is a fast growing tree with showy lilac coloured flowers in summer. It has attractive green bipinnate leaves and produces yellow bead-like fruits which hold on the tree well after the leaves have fallen. It is a very versatile landscaping tree for streetscapes, parks and gardens. We have good material ready to plant now in 40cm/27L, 50cm/52L, 100L and 200L bags across the spring/summer season.
