Trees encourage outdoor play

Trees allow children to explore and experience the natural environment. Outdoor green spaces invite spontaneity, risk taking, exploration, discovery and connection with nature. They foster an appreciation of the natural environment, develop environmental awareness and provide a platform for ongoing environmental education.

Research also suggests that outdoor play assists concentration levels inside the classroom. (Source: Victorian State Government, Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, National Quality Framework–Natural environments, Fact sheet, June 2014)
