Winter is a great time to plant advanced deciduous trees

Trees are dormant in winter so planting becomes a task that doesn't interfere with their natural cycles. It's a great time to plant trees.

Acer palmatum

Japanese Maple

A beautiful specimen tree that needs to be sheltered from direct sun in summer. Bare in winter, it is a true delight watching this tree shoot bright green leaves in spring, gradually turning to deep oranges and crimsons in autumn. Foliage is deeply cut and serrated, hanging delicately off weeping branches. A favourite of ours, we have stock ready for planting in 30cm, 40cm, 100L and 150L.

Acer platanoides 'Crimson Sentry'

This is a flashy crimson foliaged maple with dense upright branching. As a Canadian maple, it has larger leaves than the Japanese forms of maple and as its name suggests, crimson leaves follow bare limbs which turn gold and orange in autumn. A beautiful specimen tree for contrast colour and interest year round. We have good numbers in 40cm and 50cm containers ready to be planted now.

Cercis canadensis 'Forest Pansy'

As an alternative to Acer 'Crimson Sentry' with similar colourings, this is a small attractive tree with spectacular heart shaped leaves. These leaves are burgundy in spring, but then they slowly morph into other colours until bare again in winter. We have stock ready to go now in 40cm, 50cm containers, 100L, 150L and 200 litre bags.

Jacaranda mimosifolia

Known for the flush of purple flowers in summertime, this fast growing tree is best planted just after winter. Bare limbs will shoot soft green foliage turning to yellow in winter before shedding. This is a great summertime feature tree best planted when trunks are bare. With an even spread of material ready in 20cm, 30cm, 50cm containers and 100 litre bags, our suggestion is to come and take a look.

Liquidambar styraciflua

Liquidambar, Sweet Gum

This is a large tree known for fantastic colour and beautiful finely toothed foliage. Bare in winter, it shoots new green growth that by the time autumn comes turns to shades of red, orange and purple. It is a spectacular tree. Talk to us for material now in 30cm, 40cm and 50cm containers.

Liriodendron tulipifera

Tulip Tree

Another of our favourite trees due to its size, colour and shape of its foliage. Produces distinctive yellowish-green flowers. Bare limbs in winter grow vibrant lime green leaves which turn an attractive golden yellow in autumn. We have really good numbers in 30cm, 40cm, 50cm containers and 150L bags.

Pyrus calleryana 'Cleveland Select'

Ornamental Pear

This is a quick growing ornamental pear with a dense growth habit and upright branches. From bare limbs, new green spring foliage ends up a fantastic scarlet red colour during the autumn months before shedding. This is a very popular line as it the 'just right' option sitting between the skinny 'Capital' and lateral branching Manchurian pear. Talk to us now for material in 40cm, 50, 100 and 200 litres.

Quercus palustris 'Pringreen' - Green PillarĀ®

This is an upright Pin Oak with deeply lobed foliage. Bare limbs shoot vibrant green foliage which turns various shades of bronze and deep red in the autumn months. Talk to us about material ready to go now. We have good numbers in 40cm, 50cm containers and 200L bags at between 2-4m tall.

Ginkgo biloba

Maidenhair Tree

What can we say about the Ginkgo tree that hasn't already been said? It is an old species, if not the oldest recorded, with one of the most unusual leaf forms. From bare limbs in winter, spring sees in a flush of bright green foliage that eventually turns an array of yellow and gold in autumn before falling. A very special tree and we have good numbers for you to buy now in 50 litre containers.

Lagerstroemia indica x fauriei 'Sioux'

Crepe Myrtle (hot musk pink)

Bare in winter, this deciduous tree has small oval shaped green leaves that turn a stunning reddish/orange in the autumn. Lagerstroemia is a wonderful selection for year-round interest as every season offers up something new. This variety has masses of intense pink flowers in summer, classic red/orange tonings in autumn and caramel-pink when bare. This is a popular line for us, which generally means we have good numbers in most sizes, but in particular 30cm, 40cm and 50cm containers. Talk to us today!

Lagerstroemia indica x fauriei 'Tuscarora'

Crepe Myrtle (Hot Pink)

'Tuscarora' lagerstroemia is another example of a year round attraction. Bare limbs in winter flush green growth in spring which turns a stunning reddish/orange in autumn. Beautiful coral red crinkled flowers are borne in late summer which give it 'wow' factor. Even in winter with not a leaf of cover, its beige coloured bark with red-brown streaks is a feature. We have good numbers ready to go now in 30cm and 40cm containers, 100L, 150L and 300L bags for that eye-catching specimen.

Liriodendron tulipifera 'Fastigiata'

A smaller tree that is more upright than wide. It offers the same beautiful characteristics as straight tulipifera such as big yellowish-green flowers with orange markings and attractive large leaf but in a fastigiate form. The lime coloured leaves turn a golden-yellow in autumn. We have good numbers in 40cm and 50cm containers, as well as 100L bags.
