Acer palmatum dissectum 'Seiryu'

Foliage Deciduous
Form Branches Ascending
Mature Size 4 x 4m
Family Aceraceae
Seiryu Japanese Maple

An attractive small tree with lacy leaves that turn gold to crimson in autumn. A good selection for courtyards and small gardens where there is protection from full sun. Its light green new growth provides a striking contrast against older foliage. This is the only upright variety of the dissectum group of Japanese Maples.

Like the other Japanese Maples, this tree is suitable for smaller gardens and courtyards with protection from full sun. Works well as a feature tree or in group plantings.

Prefers a moist, well drained soil. It should be placed in a protected area of the landscape to protect it from hot summer winds that may scorch the fine leaves. Avoid a location that is unprotected from north or west sun, or hot wind in summer.
