Canary Islands Strawberry Tree, Madrone This tree has bold foliage and produces large panicles of white bell-like flowers throughout the year and somewhat knobbly-looking fruit that turn red over time. The bark of this tree is showy, changing from dark orange in most seasons to mid-purple depending on extreme heat and sun. The trunk is smooth with shedding bark. Arbutus are fabulous small ornamental trees that are suitable for parks and gardens. Prefers well-drained soils with some irrigation. |
