Lemon Myrtle, Lemon-scented Myrtle Like Corymbia, Backhousia releases a fragrant lemon scent when crushed. It is a pretty tree that produces small white lemon-scented flowers from late spring to summer. They prefer a subtropical environment, being native to Queensland rain forests. Makes a useful shade tree and can be used for hedging or screening where the strong lemony scented leaves makes trimming a sensory pleasure. Leaves can also be used in cooking. Can be grown in coastal areas. This tree will tolerate most soils types but prefers humus rich soils with some moisture. Prune to shape if required. |
