Banksia serrata is a small to medium sized tree with a single trunk, cork-like bark and deep green foliage. It is usually a gnarly looking tree. Leaf margins are serrated with lobes between 1 mm and 3 mm deep. It produces silvery grey flower spikes and cones. This species can generate well after bush fire due to its ability to store energy.

A very distinctive, bird attracting Australian native that can be planted in multiples and on its own as a single specimen.

This tree likes a well-drained sandy soil. A good selection for coastal conditions and are often found behind dunes along the coastline.
