Betula pendula 'Alba'

Foliage Deciduous
Form Pendulous
Mature Size 12 x 6m
Silver Birch

Betula pendula 'Alba' is a weeping deciduous tree with a beautiful silver-white trunk, pendulous branches and silvery green foliage. Its leaves change from green to gold in autumn which makes it a lovely tree for year-round interest.

Birch is often used to line fences or driveways. As a group planting, they create a woodland effect. They have a fibrous root system which means that they are unlikely to damage paths or underground pipes but require mulching in summer to retain moisture.

They like full sun or part shade and well drained, fertile, moist soil.
