Tree Ceratonia siliqua Carob Tree
Description Native to the Mediterranean, this is a hardy, fast-growing evergreen tree known commonly as the Carob Tree where its seedpods or beans are a substitute for chocolate. Foliage is green, densely-packed and glossy. Flowers are small and petal-less, starting out yellow and turning red over time.

Uses Great foropen spaces, parks and reserves, Can be clipped to a hedge. The fragrance of flowers is known to be unpleasant so it is not advised to plant this tree close to open windows or living spaces.
Position & Soil Tolerant of heat and drought resistant. It is well-suited to hot, dry areas and can adapt to nutrient poor soils.
