Tree Prunus x blireana Purple-leaved Ornamental Plum
Description A good, vase-shaped flowering Plum tree for spring blossom (sometime referred to as a Cherry. This deciduous tree is relatively small growing to around 5m tall. It has slender, arching branches, double mauve-pink flowers, and reddish-purple leaves which turn purplish green in summer. An early flowering variety, it heralds the warmer days as they arrive with a beautiful display of slightly fragrant blossoms from mid-August to mid-September. Being a hybrid variety it is sterile and does not produce fruit.

Uses A nice feature tree with double pink flower blossom in Spring. Great along driveways and avenues.
Position & Soil Performs best in a fertile soil, with good drainage in a sunny position. After flowering, thin out the centre and make room for new growth by removing old, non-productive wood.
