Description Pyrus 'Beurre Hardy' is a popular French dessert pear dating back to the early 19th century. It has a distinctive, sweet flavour and good textured flesh that can be served cooked or eaten straight from the tree. Flowers are small, single and white and appear early in spring. For best results, it should be grown in conjunction with a pollination partner.

Position & Soil Pear trees blossom extremely early in spring, so for best results grow them against a south-facing wall or fence, where they will be protected from frost. Mulch annually and water in dry spells. As with most pears, pick the fruit when still firm and allow it to ripen indoors.
