Red Delicious Fruiting Apple Red Delicious produces excellent crops of bright red, large, crunchy apples. The flesh is greenish-white and has a crisp texture. A high-chill variety for cooler regions. A very popular apple, great for eating fresh. Prefers a sunny position with well-drained soil. Water in well and keep soil moist until tree is established. Fertilise and prune yearly to encourage new growth and fruit the following year. Chill-hours for fruit development: This is a high-chill variety, requiring more chill-hours over winter. Pollinators: Granny Smith, Pink Lady, Red Fuji, Gala or Golden Delicious are required nearby for this tree to pollinate and fruit successfully. |
