Olea europaea 'Mission'

Foliage Evergreen
Form Broad-domed
Mature Size 4 x 8m
Family Oleaceae
Mission Olive

Native to the Mediterranean, Olive trees are generally hardy trees with good tolerance to poor soils. This one is no exception. The Mission Olive grows between 4-9 m depending on conditions. Ours is grown as a single trunk specimen. The grey-green leaves are thick and leathery. Fruits start green, and turn black when they ripen.

Olives are ideally suited to most landscapes as they are long lived, small in stature, and are easily pruned. Where space allows, Olives look great planted in multiple numbers.

The Mission Olive will tolerate most soils including loam and sandy as well as prolonged periods of dryness. A humus-rich well-drained soil in a sunny position is preferred.
