Upright Black-leaved Ornamental Plum An upright (fastigiate) growing deciduous flowering Plum with dark purple/crimson foliage (sometimes incorrectly referred to as a cherry). Pale-pink flower buds turn to a profusion of single white blossom in early spring. Dark red-purple foliage turns bronze in autumn. This is a good tree if you are looking for contrast shape and colour in the garden. This variety grows tall and upright, so it is very suitable for screening out neighbours particularly in narrow landscapes and garden beds. A hardy tree, it tolerates most conditions but flowers best in a sunny spot in well-drained soil. Protect from strong winds. |
