Elephant Heart Japanese Blood Plum This Japanese freestone plum produces large, heart-shaped fruit with a firm, sweet and juicy blood-red flesh. It has a distinctive flavour. This variety is good for eating fresh, stewing, canning and freezing. Plums can grow in many soil types, but do best in fertile, well-drained soil. Periodic deep watering in summer months is advised, even though the trees are fairly drought tolerant. Heavy pruning is necessary at all ages. |
