Foliage-Accentuated Weeping Standards

Grafted weeping standards are ideal as a feature tree in a compact landscape. These varieties have been chosen specifically for their outstanding foliage form and colour particularly in autumn, where some take centre stage.

Acer palmatum dissectum 'Inaba Shidare' (weeping standard)

Inaba Shidare Weeping Japanese Maple

This is a vigorous and sturdy, upright growing Japanese maple with a cascading form. It retains its larger, intricate crimson-burgundy foliage well throughout the season. They do not bronze out in late season, as do other red dissectum maples.

Acer palmatum dissectum 'Ornatum Bronze' (weeping standard)

Ornatum Bronze Weeping Japanese Maple

A beautiful Japanese Maple produces stunning deep-red new growth becoming a dark coppery-burgundy colour eventually turning bronze-green as it matures. It has a beautiful domed weeping habit and leaves are deeply lobed with serrated edges. This gives the leaves a feathery look.

Acer palmatum dissectum 'Viridis' (weeping standard)

Viridis Weeping Japanese Maple

A graceful and wide spreading weeping Japanese Maple with bright green foliage that has fine serrated foliage giving it a feathery appearance. Green leaves turn a brilliant scarlet-red in autumn. The flowers are small and red in spring.

Malus domestica 'Echtermeyer' (weeping standard)

Echtermeyer Weeping Crab Apple

This is a hardy, low and wide-spreading, deciduous, ornamental tree with a lovely weeping habit. It bears deep red buds and rosy-red flowers in spring which turn to purplish-red small fruits. It makes a knock-out specimen tree in a small landscape.

Sophora japonica pendula '(weeping standard)'

Japanese Pagoda Tree

This is a grafted tree characterised by stiff drooping branches forming a beautiful weeping habit. Leaves are deep green and oval in shape, and give the tree a feathery look. Foliage turns multiple shades of yellow in autumn. The tree is native to China and Korea and has been cultivated in Japan for centuries.

Ulmus glabra 'Camperdownii' (Weeping Standard)

Weeping Elm

This tree is a grafted standard form of Elm. It has large elliptical leaves which are slightly serrated at the edges and turn yellow in autumn. The tree forms a lovely weeping habit that falls all the way to the ground.

Morus alba pendula '(weeping standard)'

Weeping Mulberry

This is a densely weeping grafted Mulberry standard with glossy green foliage turning to various shades of orange and yellow in autumn. Flowers are insignificant, but are followed by a small quantity of small reddish-black edible fruit.
