Cornus kousa chinensis
Dogwood
A beautiful small deciduous feature tree and is extremely showy when in bloom. What appear to be four petaled white flowers are actually bracts spread open below the cluster of inconspicuous yellow-green flowers. Flowering season is late spring, weeks after the tree puts on foliage again.
Uses
Due to colour, Dogwood makes a great feature tree for both flowering and foliage accent. Its shape is also good as a canopy tree.
Preferred Position & Soil
This tree will grow in a broad array of soil types, in a sunny position. Although humus rich soil is prefered it is not necessary for the soil to be well drained.
