Trees and allergies often go together but with the right landscape planning, we believe sinus sensitivities can be minimised. We have assisted a number of designers recently with information on selections for childcare centres, playgrounds and schools with a low-allergen focus. While not an exhaustive list, these trees we believe are suitable and are provided below as a starting point.

An upright small to medium tree that is native to Australia. It has similar wood to Acacia melanoxylon when young but Implexa flowers in summer. A drought tolerant upright small tree with an open crown, long slender green leaves and pale yellow flowers in Summertime.
An erect conical shaped tree which has dark fissured bark which looks black at certain times of the year. This fast growing tree bears showy red male flowers in spring. The female has small spiky cones
This Australian native tree has a dense growth habit with long green leaves bearing silver undersides. The leaves can have spiky or smooth margins. The large yellow cylinder shaped flowers are a stunning feature to the tree and attract native birds and insects. The flowers are bourne from spring to autumn.
This is a slightly narrow domed tree that doesn't shed its branches. It has a smooth trunk that may be slightly mottled. The bark is a pinky salmon in colour. Leaves are narrow and highly aromatic when crushed smelling strongly of lemon. This tree features lovely cream-coloured flowers in summer.
A dwarf version of Corymbia eximia, the foliage is broad with a strong green colour and may turn a paler yellow/green in the colder months. The trunk adopts a gnarly, crooked appearance with mottled brown bark and in Spring the tree puts on an eye-catching display covering itself in creamy yellow flowers, attracting nectar loving birds.
This is a tough and compact Australian native which puts on a brilliant display of fiery red flowers throughout the summer months, providing an abundance of food for nectar loving birds. This variety forms a dense canopy consisting of numerous branches and large, glossy dark green foliage which is highlighted by the lighter green undersides of the leaves. During the warmer months new foliage emerges with a reddish tinge.
This unique native tree is a brilliant ornamental tree. It grows to about 8 m before the foliage starts to weep. The young branches are red and glossy with older growth being covered in a white residue and finally peeling in curled strips. The flowers are stunning large showy pink to red with yellow at the tips of the stamens borne in Spring .
This tree is a medium to tall grower, best known for its unusual bark which varies from smooth to rough all the way down the trunk. Often the bark varies presenting an array of colours including grey, yellow, red and brown and occasionally, can be very dark and rough. Very fragrant, white flowers appear during the warmer months.
A small native tree that exhibits patches of grey, white and a reddish-pink bark in older growth on smooth trunks. Its foliage is dark green to greenish blue and narrow in shape but still holds that typical pauciflora leaf; large, thick and waxy. The flowers attract butterflies, bees and birds.
