Some November-ready selections

Varieties ready for November

Brachychiton populneus x acerifolius 'Bella Donna'

This is a broad domed evergreen tree with densely packed leaves which are bright red when young and a very large trunk. This is a great tree for streetscapes and parks due to its compact height and shape. Bright pink flowers cover the tree in late spring/early summer. We have good numbers available now in 30cm and 50 litre containers.

Eucalyptus macrandra

Long-flowered Marlock

Eucalyptus macrandra is a tall shrub or small tree with greyish smooth bark that is shed during late summer and autumn. The revealed new bark is greenish-brown to brown. The leaves are lanceolate, leathery and bright green. Nectar-filled flowers are produced between December and March. We have good numbers in 40 cm containers at a height of 1.8m.

Banksia ericifolia 'Red Rover'

This is a moderately dense, medium upright shrub with more of an open habit than other similar sized Banksia. It has tight lime green foliage and bronze-turning-red cylindrical flowers produced in autumn and winter. As a Banksia it is highly attractive to native birds and insects. Our stock is ready to go now in 40cm containers at a height of 1.5 metres.

Lagerstroemia indica x fauriei 'Tuscarora'

Crepe Myrtle (Hot Pink)

A very popular tree with landscapers and designers for many reasons including flower colour, height and form. It has small oval shaped green leaves that turn a stunning reddish/orange in the autumn and a flush of beautiful coral red crinkled flowers in late summer. We have good numbers in a number of pot sizes in 30cm containers and 150 litre bags.

Callistemon viminalis 'Hanna Ray'

Growing 4 metres tall by 2 metres wide with pendulous, drooping branches, this Callistemon variety is slightly smaller in height than 'Dawson River' and has red flowers. Considered a large shrub or small tree, it is a favourite for its intense red bottlebrush flowers and woolly appearance. Talk to us for material ready now in 30cm and 50 litre containers.

Corymbia maculata 'ST1' Lowanna

Growing approximately 10 metres tall by 7 metres wide, this special selection originates from Sale Victoria and is a denser version of straight maculata. Smaller in height, we immediately noted its potential for residential and commercial landscaping. Exhibits the same attractive bark, spotted trunk and dense dark green foliage as its parent, just in a smaller package. We have good numbers available now in 50 litre stock at 2.5 metres tall.

Corymbia maculata 'ST2' Toombah

Spotted Gum

Growing to 30 metres, Corymbia 'Toombah' is large tree for open spaces. With a spotted cream and grey trunk and dark green foliage it looks just like straight maculata only with a rounder form and denser canopy. We have material available now in 50 litre containers at a height of 2.5 metres.

Arbutus unedo

Irish Strawberry Tree

This is a really attractive small tree that is under-utilised in the landscape. Features include red stringy bark, and white flowers tinged with pink in autumn and winter that look like bells or even small strawberries hence its common name. We have lovely stock available now in 40cm 50 litre containers and 150 litre bags.
