Our evergreen Magnolia stock is looking particularly fabulous! It copes well with direct sun, even in this heat, and is tolerant of many soil types. With a number of sizes available from 1m to 3m tall, evergreen Magnolia is perfect for so many planting situations.

But which variety is best for which situation? From tallest in height, below is our quick guide to evergreen Magnolia selection. 


Magnolia grandiflora 'Exmouth'

  • 12m tall x 6m wide
  • Original & tallest in range
  • Flowers are larger than Magnolia 'Little Gem' but less prolific
  • Good as a feature tree


Magnolia grandiflora 'Coolwyn Gloss' PBR

  • 10m tall x 8m wide
  • Biggest leaf in the range
  • Glossier leaf than others here
  • Tends to grows quicker than others here
  • Massive flowers but few in number when young
  • Good as a feature tree


Magnolia grandiflora 'Little Gem'

  • 6m tall x 3m wide
  • Prolific flowerer
  • Still the yardstick for flowering ability
  • Ascending branches
  • Compact look
  • Good for screening or as a feature tree


Magnolia grandiflora 'Kay Parris'

  • 4m tall x 3m wide
  • Deeper brown underside
  • Larger flowers but less in number
  • Ascending branches
  • Compact look
  • Good for screening


Magnolia grandiflora 'Teddy Bear' PBR

  • 4m tall x 3m wide
  • Roundest leaf in the range
  • Compact, tight form
  • Fills space very well
  • Flowers are average size but less in number than 'Little Gem' & 'Kay Parris'
  • Good feature tree or screen in time
